Costain has announced that Integrated Bradford, a consortium that includes Costain, HSBC, Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Investments and Amey Ventures, has reached financial close on the £230 million Bradford Schools Phase 2 PFI Project.

The scheme, which is part of the Bradford BSF Programme, includes the provision of four secondary schools for Bradford Metropolitan District Council. The four modern campus environments also comprise four smaller schools and will provide dedicated learning for students with special educational needs. Design and construction of the schools will be provided by Educo, a Joint Venture between Costain and Ferrovial Agroman.

Phase 1 of the Bradford BSF Programme provided for three new secondary schools, all of which are now in full operation. A further three new primary schools, currently in construction, will be handed over in early 2010.

Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said: "We are delighted to be continuing our involvement in Building Schools for the Future through our strong relationship with Bradford and our consortium partners to improve further the education provision in the city."
