Residents are due to be balloted on their views next month to decide the future of an estate in Pinner, Harrow.

Currently owned by Harrow Council, the Mill Farm Close estate will get a £32 million injection under proposed plans, which could fund 165 new homes under proposed plans. 86 of the new homes will be for social rent, replacing the existing homes on the estate, and the remaining 79 homes will be for private sale and shared ownership.

There will also be gardens, balconies and a children's playing area built on the estate and the new properties will be designed for wheelchair access and to accommodate larger families.

A meeting will then be held with neighbouring residents on 1 September, followed by a secret ballot of residents next month.

If over half of council tenants on Mill Farm who vote are in favour of the proposed redevelopment then the estate will be transferred to Catalyst Communities Housing Association (CCHA) to take the plans forward. CCHA intend to submit a formal planning application in October.

Back in October 2008, Harrow Council gave the go ahead to appoint Catalyst Communities Housing Association as the Council's preferred partner to undertake the redevelopment project.
