Good progress is being made on the new network of roads and bridges being built throughout the Olympic Park site.

The site of the Olympic Park is made up of poorly connected areas of land, broken up by railway lines and waterways. The new infrastructure being put in place will help join up the Park both during the Games and for the communities that will live in and around the area after 2012.

The structures, bridges and highways project is the single biggest construction project the ODA is delivering.

New bridges onto the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre sites are among the essential new links that have now been built.

Work is also now underway to construct the Olympic Park Loop Road – inside the Olympic Park - a new 12km road that circles the site.

Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Director of Infrastructure and Utilities Simon Wright said: "As the main venues make their mark on the Olympic Park skyline, we are also seeing the essential new infrastructure that will link them together taking shape.

"These new networks of roads and bridges are already transforming the once fragmented Olympic Park site, creating new links for construction activity and providing the building blocks for an open and accessible Park in 2012 and beyond."
