Ian Baker has been promoted to Group Managing Director of Galliford Try's housebuilding division.

He was previously Divisional Managing Director responsible for housebuilding in the southwest and Midlands, a role which he maintains.

Aged 39, Ian first joined Galliford Try in 1986 on a Youth Training Scheme with Midas Construction, ultimately being promoted to production director and operations director. In 2002 he was appointed as director and general manager of Gerald Wood Homes (the special homes division of Midas Homes) and, the following year, became managing director of Stamford Homes in the eastern counties. He joined the executive board of Galliford Try plc in 2007.
