Refurbishment Of Southern Cemetery Chapel Completed

Work has now been completed on the Refurbishment of the North Chapel at Southern Cemetery in Manchester.

The Chapel, which was built in 1879 is a Grade II Listed Building and has been regularly used over the years for funeral services in the cemetery. It has now been restored to its former glory and can once again be used for its original purpose.

Due to the building's status, all the work required special Listed Buildings Consent and had to meet specific standards to match the original materials as near as is possible to conserve the original appearance and construction methods.

The work carried out is all part Manchester City Council's plans to improve the cemetery and complements the new memorial lodge that has recently been opened.
