Lovell And Haringey Council Help People Get Back To Work

Haringey Council has teamed up with Lovell, which is helping deliver the Haringey Decent Homes project in North Tottenham, to help get long-term unemployed people back into work.

Participants on the scheme spend four weeks working on the Lovell Haringey Decent Homes project, at the end of which Lovell will pay for their CSCS card which will allow them to obtain a job on building sites.

Lovell Project Manager, Alex Sanderson, said: "The idea of the work placement scheme is to offer people experience working in the construction industry. They will be working with our multi-trade contractors, gaining knowledge of a wide selection of trades and skills which will hopefully give them the confidence to apply for similar jobs."

The work placement project is an integral part of the Haringey Guarantee, Haringey Council's programme to tackle local unemployment.

Hanna Sakowicz at Haringey Council said: "We are pleased to work with Lovell to support local people into work. Lovell provides excellent conditions for placement staff to develop their skills and gain work experience. This partnership is a good example of how the Haringey Guarantee engages with employers to support local people on a pathway to work."
