Proposals for a community centre full of great facilities in West Norwood, Lambeth, are now much closer.
Central government has endorsed £14.2 million of Private Finance Initiative credits towards the services at Norwood Hall. Norwood Hall proposals will provide a new customer service centre, swimming pool, a gym, a dance studio and space for community meetings as well as access to health services. The council is working to make sure that the scheme can now go ahead.
Lambeth Council's Cabinet member for Regeneration and Housing, Councillor Lib Peck, said: "This announcement is great news for local people in West Norwood. Norwood Hall is a brilliant scheme which has been strongly supported by the local community. I am delighted that government has indicated its support and we look forward to delivering exceptional facilities that promote the health of our local residents."
There will be a public open day in September, where residents will be able to find out more about the scheme as well as feedback on the initial designs for the customer, health and well-being services at Norwood Hall.
Norwood Hall is a key project in the West Norwood masterplan, which sets out a vision for the town centre. The masterplan played an important part in securing funding meaning that state of the art health and well-being facilities including a swimming pool and gym can be delivered at Norwood Hall.
