Olympic Park Venues Set To Take Shape Over The Coming Year

Construction News Image
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has announced a new set of milestones, known as 'the big build: structures', to be achieved during the next phase of constructing the venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Games.

The ODA plans to deliver these new milestones by 27 July 2010, a date two years from the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Park will be transformed over the coming year as the venues for the Games continue to take shape. By 27 July 2010 the structures of the main sporting venues on the Park and the majority of homes in the Olympic Village will have been completed.

ODA Chairman John Armitt said: "The milestones are challenging as we are working to a very tight schedule, but it is important that we are transparent and accountable for the significant public investment in the project. In this way the public can judge progress for themselves."

Over the past two years the ODA has set out in advance the milestones it plans to achieve for the different phases of the project. Both sets of milestones have now been successfully delivered.

The 10 new milestones were announced with exactly three years to go to the Olympic Games in 2012.
