Novabrik brick cladding from Acheson & Glover Group, has been chosen by Rotherham Borough Council for a pioneering scheme to refurbish a community shopping centre in Rawmarsh, South Yorkshire.
The refurbishment of the Parade Shopping Centre involves the installation of a completely new external envelope to a two-story, retail and residential building using Novabirk, a dry-fix, brick cladding system. Novabrik has been used extensively in new-build and housing refurbishment projects but The Parade scheme is thought to be the first retail refurbishment use of the system.
Matt Stewart, Building Surveyor for Rotherham Council said: "The existing building was a mix of brick, concrete and stone and had suffered badly over the years. Knocking it down and building a new centre was out of the question so a complete upgrade - inside and out was decided on.
"We wanted a fresh, modern exterior that would fit with the surrounding architecture and Novabrik gave us the finish we were looking for."
