Kier Marriott has scooped the Chairman's Award at the East Midlands LABC Building Excellence Awards for the region's newest building for businesses.
Designed by architects Marks Barfield, the Kier Marriott-built Think Tank in Lincoln officially opened just two days before the the awards highlighted it as a stand-out building in the East Midlands.
The Chairman's Award, chosen by LABC Chairman Mick Henman, is presented to the scheme or organisation that, in the Chairman's view, made the biggest contribution, consistency or statement of all the nominations to the awards.
Mr Henman commented: "This is my personal award; I was asked to look at all the finalists without knowing the winners and select my favourite building. I thought the Think Tank not only looks good, but stands out for its sustainable design and the way it embraces practical sustainable construction principles. It's a super building."
Kier Marriott Director Peter Hawes added: "I am delighted that the Think Tank has received the recognition it deserves. It is a truly innovative building, one which has transformed its surrounding landscape, and its facilities will, I'm sure, have a positive impact on the region's economy. We are extremely proud to have been involved in bringing this vital development to life."
Completed by Kier Marriott at the end of last year, the £7.1m iridescent innovation centre provides managed workspace designed to attract science-based businesses to Lincoln and increase the quality of employment in the county.
