This year's Chartered Institute of Housing's (CIH) Annual Conference and Exhibition has created a clear and positive path for Government and the housing sector to begin to restore the confidence of struggling households and millions of people locked out of the housing market.
In his maiden speech new CIH President, Howard Farrand, Group Chief Executive of Whitefriars Housing Group, summed up the hugely successful event with a clear message that Government and the housing sector need to work together closely over the next 12 months to fight a way through the problems.
Mr Farrand said: "We send a positive message to Secretary of State, John Denham, and his team at Communities and Local Government. We believe Government’s extra investment and support has already made a difference. In return, we believe we are making a difference to constituents up and down the country.
"But we can do more, we want to do more, and we will do more. We hope our Ministers will argue our case in cabinet and across Government. In return, we will give more homes and help realise the aspirations of millions of people."
