It has been revealed that around 2,000 incidents at work involve electrical injury across the UK with 10% of them result in fatalities. One of the UK's leading electrical training providers, the Faraday Centre, is aiming to address the issue of reducing the toll of 20 unnecessary deaths.
It is specialising in competency based high voltage and low voltage training and delivers electrical training at its 22,000 square feet purpose-designed facilities in Middlesbrough, or in its facility in sunny Limassol, Cyprus.
Managing Director, Barry Thomas said the company offers a wide range of High Voltage Safety courses applicable to land based electrical systems as well as marine or other offshore high voltage system.
"Our electrical training includes a range of issues such as authorised person high voltage safety training, marine high voltage safety courses, high voltage refresher training as well as basic high voltage safety courses and those on electrical.
"We also arrange electrical testing, pressure testing, earth electrode testing & transformer testing and, on the other hand, our Low Voltage training offers a wide range of courses.
"Some are accredited by City & Guilds," he explained, noting that these cover 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, 671:2008 (City & Guilds 2382 qualification), Inspection, Testing & Certification (City & Guilds 2392 qualifications), Portable Appliance Testing, PAT (City & Guilds 2377), Safe Use of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (ATEX) and Basic Electrical Safety and Electrical Training for Non-electrical Personnel.
"Practical hands-on training is provided in almost all Faraday's training courses using real industrial electrical equipment supporting theoretical training," he continued.
Electrical training equipment includes 3.3/6.6kV Vacuum contactors, 11kV circuit breakers (oil/gas/air/vacuum), fixed pattern and withdrawable, LV testers: Insulation Resistance Testing, Earth Fault Loop Impedance Testing, RCD Testing (Residual Current Device), Primary & Secondary Injection test set and Microprocessor, numerical protection relays.
In addition to electrical training, the Faraday Centre offers High Voltage Safety consultancy and audit in High Voltage safety audit and developing, reviewing and updating high voltage safety rules and operational procedures.
