A new trust set up to promote lifelong learning in the construction industry has been launched at a Shaylor Group site.
The new Coventry and Warwickshire Construction Education and Training (CAWCET) Foundation - which will mainly operate in the Coventry and Warwickshire area - will promote learning opportunities in construction and attract funds for training and its development. It will oversee a partnership between local further education colleges, Coventry University, the ACT-UK Simulation Centre, the Construction Industry Partnership Centre and a number of professional construction organisations.
The launch took place at The ACT-UK Simulation Centre - a pioneering construction management training centre being built in Cheetah Road, Coventry
More than 50 people attended the event, including representatives from higher and further education, local authorities, professional bodies, regional development agency AWM, and the construction industry.
Twelve partners signed a Memorandum of Co-operation to promote and strengthen links between the principal providers of construction education in Coventry and Warwickshire and to encourage them to co-operate in providing lifelong learning for the construction industry which reflects local, regional and national needs.
