Harman Architectural Completes Wales Cliff Project

Harman Architectural have completed a project for clients Simon and Julie at their holiday home on the north west coast of Wales.

The property is situated on the edge of the cliffs that overlook the beaches of Criccieth so attention to the selection of the correct materials were paramount.

The installation comprised of stainless steel and glass balustrade manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel and mirror finished to provide a balustrade system that would require minimal maintenance thought its life. Simon and Julia chose a glass with a green tint, this seemed an unusual choice but worked perfectly with the surroundings.

Harman Architectural were commissioned to provide a spiral staircase to access the first floor timber decked terrace. With the highly corrosive atmosphere the mild steel carcass had to be galvanised.

The stair was designed as a kit with no welding to break the precious galvanise and the stair was wet painted at our factory prior to arrival on site. Simon and Julia chose the maintenance free acrylic treads and landings, unlike their timber counterparts they require little or maintenance, we inserted stainless steel anti-slip bars to account for the inevitable wet conditions.

Like many Harman Architectural clients, Simon and Julia were apprehensive of their ability to deliver all aspects of the project from design through to installation.

Like all of their clients they were delighted with the finished project and as a result were appointed to provide additional balustrades to the ground floor terrace.
