Construction union UCATT have welcomed the announcement by the Department of Energy and Climate Change that an additional £1.4bn will be spent on developing the low carbon economy.
It is estimated that the investment will help to create 20,000 new construction jobs in the coming months. The additional investment in green construction projects will help revitalise the industry.
Alan Ritchie, General Secretary of UCATT, said: "This is evidence of clear well though out Government thinking. This investment will help to fight the long-term challenge of climate change. In the short term it will provide vital impetus to the construction industry, which has been hit very hard by the recession."
