Holiday Inn Selects Sisk For New-Build Hotel

John Sisk & Son Ltd (Sisk), one of the largest construction groups in the UK and Ireland, is to construct a brand new hotel for Holiday Inn on the Winnersh Triangle Business Park, Reading.

The client is Meridian Leisure Hotels, which operates the Holiday Inn franchise. The £14.5m, 8 floor development comprises 174 rooms over 6 floors, and will be located conveniently for both business and leisure travellers in the so-called Winnersh Triangle, near M4 Junction 10.

The new hotel will comprise a pre-cast concrete frame and the design will incorporate timber feature recesses. Inside, a conference facility capable of holding a total of 450 delegates in 7 rooms will be available.

These rooms include partitioned walls that can be removed to form 4 larger rooms, the largest with a maximum occupancy of 180. The hotel also features a restaurant and leisure facilities with a guest swimming pool. Work is due to start in mid April and Sisk will remain on site for a total of 55 weeks, up to the completion date in May 2010.

Holiday Inn is one of the world's most recognisable hotel brands and caters for business and leisure travellers. It continues to grow rapidly and is expanding its 1,353 sites with 387 in the pipeline globally.

Grant Millar, Regional Construction Director, Sisk said: "Building and renovating hotels is one of our core competencies, so it is great to work with a company of Meridian Leisure’s operational excellence who are a leader in the hotelier industry. We look forward to handing over a great hotel on schedule."

Moez Janmohamed, Group Managing Director, Meridian Leisure Hotels added: "It was based on Sisk's attention to detail, experience and knowledge of this sector that made it the first choice. Meridian Leisure wants this Holiday Inn development delivered to a high level of quality for our customers, and I have confidence that Sisk will deliver on its promise."
