Understanding the impact of fuel poverty on people's lives will be the focus of one of two major new research projects for Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE), funded by the Eaga Partnership Charitable Trust (Eaga PCT).

'Fuel Poverty Perspectives', led by CSE's new Senior Researcher Will Anderson, will explore how pensioners and families cope with the misery of a cold home and the choices they make in budgeting to try to keep warm.

A second study, also funded by Eaga PCT, will examine the impact on fuel poor households of the UK's renewable energy targets and the policies selected to deliver them.

As well as reviewing the costs and benefits of these policies for fuel poor households, the research will test alternative approaches to delivering the targets. The second study will be led for CSE by Ian Preston, in partnership with the Association for the Conservation of Energy and Dr Richard Moore.
