Roath woman Stephanie Jones is proving that the construction industry is no longer a man's world with help from Cardiff-based Lovell.

The company is providing the trainee tiler with a three-month work placement to gain the practical experience she needs to complete her qualification.

"I spend one day a week on site with Lovell and it's great to be able to put the skills I've learned as part of my course into practice," said Stephanie. "So far, I've mostly been tiling bathrooms and kitchens and it's been a good experience to work alongside professional tilers and pick up some of the tricks of the trade."

The Women's Workshop in Cardiff - where Stephanie is studying for her tiling qualification - helped arrange her placement with Lovell which is enabling her to gain the practical experience she needs.

Working alongside experienced Lovell tilers, Stephanie is honing her skills at the company's site in Oakwood, Maesteg, as part of an £18 million, five-year housing improvement programme which Lovell is carrying out for Valleys to Coast in Bridgend, which will see 2,500 homes refurbished to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
