Galliford Try has announced its appointment as preferred bidder on the Big Build project for Rutland County Council at Oakham. The project brings together both Galliford Try's construction and housebuilding skills, comprising a £23 million construction project for a 900 student school and community facilities, as well as the acquisition and development of a residential site for circa 120 homes, both for affordable housing and open market sale, with a development value of around £20 million.

The construction project will commence on site in spring 2009 with build completion and handover of the housing site for the commencement of development to Galliford Try in 2011.
