Council Leader Mehboob Khan, Head Teacher Richard Dodd and pupils from Paddock J and I school recently spent an afternoon in Kirklees Council's Design and Property Services' Kirkgate Buildings putting together plans to develop a new play area for the school and local children to enjoy.

Landscape Architects Geoff Farnell and Ruth Illingworth led the workshop aimed at involving the youngsters in the development process and selecting the play equipment that will form the main features to be included within the Development.


Cllr Khan said: "It was a wonderful way of engaging with children, letting them experience the workplace and helping them to gain a good understanding of the skills and issues involved, it should also help ensure that the new play area is a resounding success."

The new play area is planned to be constructed during the school summer holidays. The development is part of the programme of the council's play area development and is one of 30 play areas to have been developed during the past 12 months.
