Lovell has been awarded housing improvement work worth £20 million by Northamptonshire-based Wellingborough Homes.

Under the contract, Lovell will carry out internal and external improvements to 3,000 homes in the Wellingborough area over the next four years for the housing association. The contract forms part of an overall housing refurbishment programme worth £31 million which Wellingborough Homes is undertaking for its housing stock.

Lovell will carry out a range of improvements, including installing new kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors and central heating systems as well as roofing and rendering work. Work on the first pilot programme, for 35 properties, will start at the end of March with the main refurbishment scheme set to begin in June.

The specialist Lovell resident liaison team will work closely with residents, the majority of whom will be staying in their homes, to ensure that the modernisation scheme goes smoothly.

As part of the programme, Lovell will be working with Wellingborough Homes on a range of community initiatives. These will include the creation of apprenticeships enabling local people to gain new skills while working on the refurbishment programme. Lovell and Wellingborough Homes will also invest in community facilities and set up schemes to help socially excluded residents, including training opportunities for long-term unemployed people.
