Zero Tolerance Approach On Rogue 'NASC' Companies

With the economic landscape becoming tougher a scaffolding contractor can have no better weapon in his arsenal than that of being an NASC (National Access and Scaffolding Confederation) member. With more and more Main Contractors stipulating the use of NASC members companies only, the value of membership is proving priceless. Unfortunately there are a few unscrupulous scaffolding companies in the UK who are attempting to 'pass off' being a member of the NASC without having passed the rigorous membership requirements.

The NASC are defending their status as the UK's scaffolding regulator by adopting a zero tolerance approach to this sort of behaviour.

"The high standards of our members are the reassurance Main Contractors are looking for. We will deal swiftly and directly with any company that threatens our brand. The only place you can check and be sure that the company is a genuine member of the NASC is on our website and in our Yearbook," states Robin James, NASC's Managing Director.

"This is not a threat, it's a promise. If any scaffolding contractor is discovered to be 'Passing off' as a member of our confederation we will take legal action. Further more any scaffolding contractor who has applied for NASC membership but has not yet been audited and approved but is found to be promoting their company as being part of the NASC will have their membership application thrown out!"

"We are encouraging Main Contractors to check their scaffolding companies credentials thoroughly, and if they are unsure if they are a NASC member they can contact us for an immediate answer,"continues Mr James.

"It appears that there may only be a small number of scaffolding contractors misleading clients, nevertheless the NASC are intending to nip this illegal practice in the bud."

If you know of any company illegally passing off as a member of the NASC contact the NASC in confidence at enquiries@nasc.org.uk
