Riches Hawley Mikhail Architects have won the competition to design the new affordable housing development on the Greyhound Opening site, off Dereham Road in Norwich.

The competition was run by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and attracted 101 expressions of interest from architects based in the UK, Eire, Japan and the Netherlands.

Riches Hawley Mikhail was one of five teams invited to develop design proposals for the Greyhound Opening site which will provide around 100 homes for people in real housing need.

Councillor Brian Morrey, Norwich City Council's Executive Member for Sustainable Development said: "At a time when the demand for social housing is greater than ever, a development like this is hugely important in providing people with much needed accommodation. By giving Norwich people high quality affordable housing while making sure the development is as energy and resource efficient as possible, not only ensures running costs are kept low for the tenants, but fulfils our responsibility to our environment."
