UCATT has welcomed the Government's announcement that there will be increased investment in ensuring that all homes will become energy efficient.
Alan Ritchie, General Secretary of UCATT, said: "These plans demonstrate how green investment can be good news for the construction industry. As well as cutting carbon emissions the Government’s plans will also provide stable employment for workers in the construction industry."
UCATT will work closely with the Government to ensure that workers are employed directly and that high levels of training is made available to the workers involved in the new schemes.
Mr Ritchie, added: "This is a win, win scenario it will help to kick start the construction industry as well as meet Government targets on energy efficiency. We look forward to assisting Ed Miliband in the great British refurb."
