Tenant Services Authority (TSA) board member Dennis Rees has been awarded the OBE for his services to housing in the New Year Honours List.
Dennis is the Chair of arm's length management organisation Derby Homes, Chair of the National Federation of Almo's, a director of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service and treasurer of the Tenants and Residents Organisations of England.
He said: "This is an award for everyone who I have worked with both nationally and in Derby and for their efforts in ensuring tenants have a say and play an active role in how their homes are managed."
TSA Chair Anthony Mayer said: "I would like to offer my congratulations to Dennis on this most well-deserved award. It is in recognition of many years of tireless work on behalf of tenants nationally and in Derby."
Other key people honoured for their services to housing include: former Housing Corporation Chair, Peter Dixon who received a Knighthood; Richard McCarthy, Director General for Housing and Planning, Communities and Local Government and Deborah Shackleton, Chief Executive, Riverside Housing Group who both receive CBEs.
