Union Square Launches Workspace ix

Union Square, the specialist construction software author, today launches a new version of 'Workspace', the web-based information sharing portal, specifically designed for the construction industry.

Workspace ix, which will be offered free of charge to existing Workspace customers, will provide a variety of new features and facilities along with an exciting new user interface.

Workspace is designed to help firms within the architectural and construction industries manage information effectively and avoid the problems that occur with traditional storage systems when valuable business documentation and correspondence is lost or misfiled. The software provides construction organisations with a very simple to access method of filing, archiving and retrieving all documents through a central software portal that can be accessed by any employee or external parties with access rights.

The Workspace ix launch represents the first major redesign of Workspace since its inception. The new product includes a significant overhaul of the user interface including new icons, new structure in the 'activity zone' and a new skinning facility to allow more sophisticated customization and colourisation.

Managing Director Richard Vincent said: "One of the big appeals of Workspace has always been that users can customise it to look exactly how they want, the new ix framework makes this process easier so that users can go further with it."

One of the major features is a new landing page which allows clients to adopt a more intranet style look to the product, enabling all company news and key links to be fed to users depending on contact characteristics such job role, department or the projects they are linked to.
