Lovell Helps Youngsters Build For The Future

Lovell set up some hands-on challenges for young people at a West Midlands construction careers event last week.

Twelve experts from Lovell - including surveyors, site managers and designers - took part in the Building People event, held at the Stoneleigh Park exhibition and conference centre in Warwickshire. Lovell, which has local offices in Woodgate Valley, Birmingham, organised a range of interactive challenges for young visitors, including the chance to do some bricklaying, try computer-aided design, spot construction health and safety hazards and look at the different facilities needed to set up a construction site.

"Events like this are a great way of engaging young people," said Lovell Regional Training Advisor Clare Hall. "Giving them the opportunity to talk to experts and try their hand at different jobs gives them the opportunity to see for themselves the different careers available and what it’s like working in construction. Attracting more young people into the industry is essential to replace those retiring and answer the demand for new recruits with the right skills."
