Turner & Townsend has been recently appointed by Manchester City Council to undertake a major role in its regeneration strategy for the future of North Manchester.
English Partnerships has launched an initiative to work with 14 selected local authorities to act as pathfinders to bring together public assets and private finance for the benefit of urban regeneration and improved social housing.
Manchester City Council is one of the 14 pathfinders and an early adopter of the local asset backed vehicle/local housing company model, which aligns English Partnerships strategy with local community needs and the demand for good quality social housing.
Turner & Townsend's role is to go to the market to test the proposition with the aim of securing private sector investment to fund the regeneration schemes and also to secure a housing partner.
With the English Partnership concepts and ideas already in place, Turner & Townsend's challenge is to successfully deliver the strategy working alongside the various stakeholders.
Turner & Townsend Director, Jim White said: "This work is very important to Turner & Townsend, as it cements our position as a market leader in management consultancy building on our track record in Newcastle, Hull and our previous work in Manchester.
"We understand Manchester City Council's model, strategy and are able to translate it into clear project outcomes and deliverables. This project is one of the first of its type in the UK and is leading edge in a number of areas."
