Carillion IT Services has announced it has secured a framework agreement with BAA - the world's leading airport company, for the provision and maintenance of network infrastructure and cabling.
The Agreement will cover all seven BAA airports across the UK; Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, with a combined throughput of 150 million passengers a year.
Carillion IT Services will, under an initial four year agreement, be the preferred provider to BAA IT for on-site services including cabling for voice, data and other airport specific network systems, cabling for new projects and 'break fix' maintenance for existing cabling infrastructures across all seven airports.
All maintenance related calls will be handled by the Carillion IT service desk, which will be available to BAA 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to deliver the highest level of service. The service desk works to strict service levels and aims to resolve all issues on a first call basis.
Carillion IT Services has been working with BAA for over 10 years, providing infrastructure and cabling services to the three Scottish airports and with their new London regional operational structure have devised an approach that could improve the effectiveness of BAA's overall cabling operation and over time help reduce their operational costs.
"We selected Carillion IT Services as the preferred supplier of network installation and maintenance services for BAA’s network infrastructure, due to their expertise, experience and reliability combined with an ability to provide a quality of service that will benefit not only our business and staff but also the millions of passengers travelling thorough our airports," commented Bob Gerrard, Network Projects Implementation Manager at BAA.
