Kier Group has secured in excess of £110m of construction work on five schools as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme in Kent, the largest school building scheme in Europe.
The signing of the contract between Kent County Council, Building Schools for the Future Investments and Land Securities Trillium/Northgate Education means that construction can now begin to completely rebuild or substantially refurbish the first ten secondary schools.
John Dodds, Chief Executive of Kier Group, commented: "Kier Group plc is delighted to be a major construction partner in the delivery of the prestigious Building Schools for the Future programme in Kent. Having been awarded over £750m of contracts in the education sector in the last two years alone, Kier can bring a high degree of innovation, value engineering and expertise in school building to this scheme. Our long-term presence in Kent and the south-east of England also ensures that we and our well-established supply chain will bring a wealth of local knowledge and skills to this project."
