Sperian Protection UK has appointed a new National Product Sales Manager for its gas detection division, Sperian Instrumentation, under which it manufactures and supplies gas detection equipment.

Andrew Hughes joins Sperian from MSA where he was Business Development Manager for six years.

With a HND in business, finance and marketing, Andrew has worked in the PPE industry for nearly 20 years and has a comprehensive knowledge of the business having worked for both manufacturers and a distributor. In his previous role with MSA Andrew gained specific knowledge about gas detection products having promoted a distribution strategy within the UK selling both PPE and gas detection products.

Andrew said: "I see this as an exciting opportunity for me to develop the Sperian Instrumentation gas detection range using my past knowledge and experience, a strong brand name, an established distribution network and an experienced sales force. Sperian Instrumentation is not yet particularly well known as a manufacturer and supplier in the gas detection industry and so my initial focus will be on raising awareness with distributors and end users. However, with the quality product and service offering Sperian Instrumentation has, I am confident that lack of awareness will not be an issue for long and that the division will prove to be very successful."
