Properties In Barnsley Set For Improvement

Barnsley Council has announced that Bramall Construction has been appointed to deliver phase 5 of a major property improvement programme in east Thurnscoe.

Phase 5 will see more than 200 properties on streets including Lancaster, Hanover, Norman, Stuart and Dane streets receive improvement works. There will also be the opportunity for additional improvement works to be undertaken on some properties subject to a survey and residents wishing to participate. These works include replacement roofs, new windows and doors to the front of the property and energy efficiency works.

The work on some properties has already started and it is expected it will be completed by March next year.

Previously, the programme has seen improvements including off-street parking, new boundary walls and gates for streets including Tudor, Saxon and parts of Deightonby.

Cllr William Newman, Cabinet spokesperson for Development, said: "The property improvements completed so far in east Thurnscoe have had a significant impact on the appearance of the area. The investment provided between now and next March will ensure the continued uplifting of the appearance of this part of the village. Furthermore, it will assist in the progressive regeneration of the wider area."
