Oceaneering Expands To Meet Global Demand

Oceaneering Inspection, part of a global provider of services to the offshore oil and gas industry, is expanding its Swansea operation with a £1.2m investment which will secure the future of its long established Welsh operation and create 20 more high skilled jobs. The project was backed by the Welsh Assembly Government's new Single Investment Fund.

The company's extended and refurbished Swansea operation at Swansea Enterprise Park was formally opened by Ian Williams, Director of the Assembly Government's International Business Wales arm.

Oceaneering is part of a US-owned group which has grown to become an important supplier of engineering services and products to the aerospace industry and well as offshore oil and gas operations. The company specialises in deepwater work - and its remote controlled subs have dived three times to the wreck of the Titanic some 13,000 ft below the surface of the Atlantic. On the last mission in 2005, an Oceaneering vehicle provided a live video feed to a TV 'special' presented by James Cameron, director of the 'Titanic' movie.

The Swansea operation is part of the group's Oceaneering Inspection division, which is the one of the largest providers of Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection Services in the world, employing over 1,500 personnel.
