Lovell To Carry Out Home Improvement Scheme In Dudley

Construction News Image
Lovell has been awarded an £8.4 million, three-year contract by Dudley Council in the West Midlands to work on the council’s housing refurbishment programme.

Lovell will be carrying out internal improvement work to identified properties over the length of the contract. The upgrading work will include installing new kitchens/bathrooms, as well as carrying out other improvements to tenants’ homes. The contract also involves improving properties which become empty prior to new families moving in, therefore reducing disruption to tenants.

Dudley Council is on target to achieve the Government’s Decent Home Standard by 2010 and is working closely with partnership organisations, such as Lovell, to provide a service which is effective in terms of quality and price. This contract is being undertaken in partnership with FHM & Co Ltd, and Dudley Council's own in-house workforce.

Lovell is set to start work in Dudley in October and is one of many construction partners working on the Council’s large-scale housing improvement programme. If the contract proves to be a success, Dudley Council may extend the contract by an additional two years.
