Littlehampton Sea Cadet Corps have been given a boost thanks to a grant from Arun District Council.
The Sea Cadets applied to the Council's Grant Aid Scheme, which gives grants to voluntary, community and charitable organisations.
They asked for £2,500 to repair and improve their jetty on the River Arun, where they keep a number of boats moored.
Work was needed to replace the hand rails and a number of planks along the walkway as they were in a bad state of repair and many were rotten.
The Council grant helped to fund the repairs so cadets will be able to safely access their boats.
Chairman of the Grants Panel Councillor Paul English, presented the Sea Cadets with their cheque and said: "It is my pleasure to hand over this cheque to the Sea Cadets. They work extremely hard to offer young people in our community the chance to develop new skills and learn a
sense of discipline and responsibility whilst having a great deal of fun.
"We will continue to offer as much support as possible to voluntary, charity and community groups such as this, to make sure they are able to continue their fantastic work across the District."
