Local shopfitting contractor, du Boulay Contracts Ltd, made a successful splash at the Anthony Nolan Trust Dragon Boat Regatta on Thursday 5th June in the picturesque setting of Wimbledon Park Lake.
The weather gods were kind on this rare occasion to provide a perfect late spring evening for the organisers and the 24 competing teams and their supporters.
After two competitive heats, the three fastest teams made it to the final and du Boulay Contracts pipped the other two teams to the finishing line.
The team was made up of some office staff including mother of two, Emma Weaver, and several site staff.
12-year-old William Reed, son of Managing Director, Michael Reed, was the all important drummer on the du Boulay dragon boat and he kept the rhythm and team spirits in high order.
Finance Director and Team Leader, David Budd, was delighted.
He said: "Everyone involved in each of the 24 teams who took part in this extremely well-organised event clearly enjoyed the team-building experience.
"Whilst we were thrilled and completely surprised to win in our first outing in a dragon boat, the real winners were the Anthony Nolan Trust who raised no less than £23,000 from this one event.
"We support many charities and were excited to be involved in this sterling effort," he said.
