Edwardian Townhouse Gets A Makeover

An Edwardian townhouse in Llandeilo, Wales, has been transformed into a luxury B&B, after receiving a cash windfall.

Major conversion works have been carried out at Fronlas in Thomas Street.

The property is now a contemporary boutique style destination, which is attracting visitors from near and far.

Carmarthenshire County Council gave owners Eva and Owain Huw a £15,000 grant for the conversion, from its Physical Grants for Growth programme.

The Objective One funded project has seen a £3 million investment in towns across the county in recent years.

The couple spent 18 months converting the townhouse, and the renovations have included the latest eco technologies, including solar panels and under floor heating.

All rooms have been individually designed and as a commitment to the local community, the breakfasts are both organic and locally sourced.

The property now combines the designer looks of a hotel with the personal touches associated with a luxury bed and breakfast.

It has been graded as a 5 star establishment and selected as a member of Wales in Style - an independently selected guide to some of the finest places to stay, eat and visit in Wales.

The council's Project Manager Vivienne Davies said: "The aim of the Physical Grants for Growth programme was to assist the physical and economic regeneration of Carmarthenshire and it proved very popular with business owners.

"The grants have helped to bring many redundant and disused buildings back into business use, and have led to economic benefits across the county."

Under the programme, grants were offered to the private sector to transform rundown buildings for business use.
