Dispense In Safety

Knightsbridge Mechanical Handling, a Cheshire-based forklift specialist, has enlisted Grayling Products' expertise to maximise its use of space when storing drums in its warehouse. Grayling supplied a four-drum plastic bund tray with twin galvanised dispensing stands.

Grayling's plastic drum sumps are designed to contain oil spillages and thus control pollution, helping with legal compliance and improving health and safety conditions. All Grayling's spill control equipment complies with the latest pollution control regulations governing oil storage and spill prevention. The plastic sump is made in Grayling's own bespoke mould, from fully-recyclable medium density polyethylene (MDPE). The strong, sturdy and durable construction incorporates a galvanised steel grid for extra rigidity.

Fork-liftable moulded pockets in the base of the sump offer equal oil dispersal, as well as valuable lifting access. The plastic drum sump comes in two- or four-drum configuration with either single or double stands, drums can be laid horizontal for dispensing. Frames are available where drums need to be raised above the sump to allow the use of a tap facility.

Previously, Knightsbridge had been storing oil drums in a vertical position which meant that dispensing from them via hand pumps was awkward. The Grayling sumps and stands enable four drums to be stored horizontally in a 'two up, two down' formation, saving valuable space and enabling oil to be dispensed much more easily.

Knightsbridge's Service Manager, Jason Ibbotson said: "Grayling's approach was professional and friendly and their staff could not have been more helpful. All in all, a very positive experience."

Grayling Products specialises in the manufacture of drum and IBC storage equipment, from sump pallets and drum bunds to drum racking and external storage systems. The company believes that good economical manufacturing need not mean compromising on design and its products are intended to complement any installation. Grayling manufactures to a strict code of practice, using raw materials from Western European sources with strict environmental laws. This enables its customers to protect the environment, whilst improving Health and Safety and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
