A new 'Eco Bus' has joined the drive towards a better than ever visitor experience at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park in Plymouth.

The electric powered passenger bus is designed to take the strain out of visiting the house for those arriving at the Cremyll entrance to the park.

Capable of carrying 14 passengers, it was bought with £15,000 raised by the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park - the biggest single donation ever made by the park's supporters.

Park Manager Ian Berry said: "Visitors arriving at Cremyll are often put off visiting Mount Edgcumbe House because of the climb up the hill but now they can just hop on the bus. No charge is made for the service but there is a donation box on board to help towards running costs."

Chairman of the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Gordon Crocker said: "It gives the Friends great pleasure to make this donation to the park. It will increase accessibility whilst being eco friendly."
