Professor Colin Jones was appointed as new Non-Executive Director to the Planning Inspectorate by Communities Minister Baroness Andrews and Environment, Sustainability and Housing Minister, for Wales, Jane Davidson.

As a Non-Executive Director of the Planning Inspectorate Professor Jones will sit on the Strategic Management Board and Audit Committee. The Board provides vital corporate expertise and independent advice to the Planning Inspectorate overseeing business planning, strategy, performance, resources and Corporate Governance.

Announcing the two year appointment Baroness Andrews said: "I am delighted to appoint Professor Colin Jones to the Planning Inspectorate's Strategic Management Board. We are confident that Colin Jones will add valuable experience to help the Inspectorate meet the challenges ahead."

Ms Davidson added: "The Planning Inspectorate's Non-Executive Directors bring a vital oversight and corporate perspective to the operation and future development of the Inspectorate and Colin's appointment can only help boost the important job it already carries out."
