Turner & Townsend Expands Into India

Construction and management specialist Turner & Townsend has opened a new office in Mumbai and has secured its first commissions as project managers and cost managers in India.

Work has already started on projects in the commercial sector for Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank, and in the energy sector for Cairn India.

Turner & Townsend is also supporting Siemens with its manufacturing projects, and Munich Re in the infrastructure sector.

Project management services are being provided to the UK government's Department for International Development on a new office building in New Delhi.

With project offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennal, Turner & Townsend has established a pan-India capability reinforced by strong local experience and knowledge.

The company is poised to introduce high-quality programme management and project controls services for corporate and public sector clients having major projects and rollouts.

Its international expertise in PPP projects is also providing opportunities in the expanding infrastructure, utilities, health and eduction sectors.

Chief Executive Officer Vincent Clancy, commented: "The establishment of our first office in India is in line with our global strategy of building capability to assist global clients. We are now serving an increasing number of clients on a worldwide basis.

"Together with offices in Russia and China, our presence in India now gives us the capability on these important emerging markets."

The new office in Mumbai brings to 56 the number of Turner & Townsend wholly owned offices around the world.
