Raychem Systems Keep The Water Hot At Bristol Schools

Raychem HWAT temperature maintenance systems have been installed on single pipe hot water systems at four new PFI schools and colleges currently being built in Bristol by Skanska in partnership with Bristol City Council and Partnerships for Schools.

Manufactured by Tyco Thermal Controls, the Raychem HWAT system is a simple, intelligent and energy-efficient means of ensuring instant hot water is available at every hot tap, including those on 'dead legs', through a single pipe system. By heat-tracing the pipework, water temperatures can be maintained at a constant 55°C, without any need for secondary recirculation plumbing. This temperature maintenance solution is not only significantly more energy-efficient than conventional re-circulation systems but, in eliminating return pipework, also offers space, material and installation time/cost savings too.

Jointing Technologies South West, a Tyco Thermal Controls Distributor Partner, supplied and installed over 8000 metres of HWAT heat-trace cables at Hartcliffe Education Centre, Brislington Enterprise College, Bristol Brunel Academy and Whitefield Fishponds Community School, for domestic hot water services to classrooms, kitchens, cafeterias, toilets and cloakrooms.
