A new £350,000 extension to Parkside Community School, Derbyshire, has been completed.

The extension was built as part of work following the school achieving status as a specialist maths college.

The extension includes two teaching rooms, one of which is used as a computer suite and the other as an office.

Derbyshire County Council approved £100,000 of Government funding for the project, with a further £200,000 provided by the school, and £50,000 raised through sponsorship.


Councillor Alan Charles, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for schools, said: "This is a brilliant facility for the students and staff and will really help the school develop as a specialist maths college.

"Gaining specialist status means pupils can use improved facilities such as these and staff can share their expertise among the local community of schools.

"I would like to congratulate the school on raising the sponsorship funding - they will benefit from their dedication and hard work for years to come."
