An £11.6m Highways Agency safety scheme on the A66 near Stockton-on-Tees is nearing successful completion with help from Faithful+Gould.

The scheme comprises a new bridge over the A66 and slip roads to allow traffic to join this major northern road more safely.

The slip roads will also provide a convenient connection between Long Newton and the village of Elton, which has been welcomed by local residents.

Faithful+Gould was appointed to support the financial aspects of the project by parent company, Atkins, who was appointed by the Highways Agency to provide consultancy services for this project.

Dennis Edwards, Director at Faithful+Gould's Stockton office believes that the company was well placed to work on this scheme. He said: "We have been appointed to this project to manage and control costs with a view to the works being completed ahead of time and within budget. Drawing on the team’s expertise on various other highways commissions for both the Highways Agency and Local Authorities, I am confident that this will be achieved."

The project will improve the safety of the road by removing the need for local traffic to use the A66 as well as providing a safer means of joining and leaving it via the new slip roads.
