Lovell has won the Employer of the Year award at the London Education Partnership Awards.
The award recognises the company's outstanding work with schools in Enfield, north London, to enable students to develop their knowledge, skills and employability and learn more about the construction industry.
Since 2001, the company's London region has been working with students at secondary in Enfield. Through the Lovell Learning Programme, students aged 13 to 15 work with construction professionals from Lovell on projects covering interior design, training, green construction, health and safety and construction skills. The teenagers also have the opportunity to complete work experience and attend a university-based conference with other students taking part in the Company Mentoring Scheme nationally. Lovell also organises events and initiatives for younger pupils including site visits.
Lovell Regional Director Steve Coombs said: "It's great to see the success of our work with schools recognised by this major award for the London region. Getting involved with local schools and encouraging students to reach their potential is an integral part of our commitment to involvement in the communities where we work. For Lovell, there are also strong business benefits in encouraging talented youngsters to consider a career in construction through our learning programme which brings together initiatives such as interactive events in schools, work experience placements for students and university sponsorship."
