Morrison Construction, part of the Galliford Try group, has secured a £6.8 million contract to construct a new student accommodation building for University of Edinburgh.
A former wardens building sited within the Pollock Halls campus will be demolished to make way for the new 47,400 sq ft facility to be named after Sir John Burnett, former Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Edinburgh University from 1979 to 1987.
The building will feature a four-storey and six-storey wing and provide 118 bed spaces - a mixture of single, twin and assisted bedrooms - with en-suite facilities, communal lounge and kitchen facilities; complemented by a number of single bedrooms with balcony.
The work is due to be completed by next summer.
