New Chairman For Construction Industry Council

Keith Clarke has been appointed the new Chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC).

The Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP, CIC's former Chairman, now becomes Deputy Chairman in accordance with CIC's rules & byelaws.

Keith is currently Chief Executive of Atkins, the UK's largest engineering consultancy and second largest architecture practice. He is a Chartered Architect with more than 30 years' experience in construction and engineering, joined Atkins from Skanska AB, where he was Executive Vice President responsible for its activities in the UK, Poland, Czech Republic, India and China. He previously worked for the City of New York for 10 years in an economic development role, as well as Olympia and York, Trafalgar House and Kvaerner.

Taking up his new role, he said: "Climate change, coupled with ever increasing urbanisation, population growth and scarcity of resources, moves the roles of the professional bodies to the core of the debate. This is an incredibly challenging and exciting time for the sector."
