International delegates from as far afield as India and Georgia will be visiting Bristol this month for one of the largest environmental events being staged in the city.

Coming from both the public and private sector, the delegates are experts in the Environmental Technologies Sector (ETS) covering waste recycling, renewable energy and sustainable construction industries. They will share their new technologies and innovations in the high growth area, as well as practical advice on how to achieve a low carbon economy.


The aim of the event is to strengthen and build on Bristol's national profile on green issues, raising its status internationally and attracting new business and investment.

Representatives from Hanover and Bordeaux will also be travelling to the BETS Expo 08, which has been organised by Bristol City Council and sponsored by the South West of England Regional Development Agency, on 17-18 June to see first-hand the development of the region's environmental technologies and services (ETS) sector.

Bristol City Councillor Mark Bradshaw, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, said: "We are very pleased that our counterparts in India, Georgia, Germany and France are coming to our city for the BETS event. It provides excellent opportunities to share best practice and look at potential business exchange on an international level."
