A team of volunteers from Turner & Townsend's Teesside office became handy men for the day at the unique historic house, Shandy Hall in Coxwold, North Yorkshire.

Through the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme, employees are allowed a paid day off each year to work on voluntary and community projects.

Oliver Smith, CSR coordinator said: "This is an opportunity for Turner & Townsend to give something back to the community, it's been a great day out, doing something worthwhile that we know makes a real difference."

The Museum Curator, Patrick Wildgust also said: "Having a team of capable, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers is a fantastic opportunity for a small museum. We have been able to achieve in one day what would have taken over a week."

The team were involved in general maintenance and decorating, allowing Mr Wildgust to have additional time to work on the Museum's lively programme of exhibitions and schools activities.

Shandy Hall is owned by the Laurence Sterne Trust and promotes the work and legacy of Laurence Sterne. The Hall is open to the public along with the exhibition gallery and stunning gardens.
