Flagship and Haymills Property Solutions have launched a competition for the next trade 'Apprentice'.
Haymills Property Solutions currently provides responsive and planned repair and maintenance services to over 14,000 of Flagship's homes across Norfolk and Suffolk on behalf of Peddars Way Housing Association, Kings' Forest Housing and Suffolk Heritage Housing Association.
The two to three-year apprenticeships will be exclusively for local Flagship residents who can prove they are made of the right stuff and committed to a career in construction. Through close liaison with schools, colleges and local residents, the Flagship/Haymills Apprenticeship Challenge will encourage candidates to apply before the closing date of Wednesday 30 April.
All short-listed candidates will attend a local Assessment Centre during May and June this year where they will spend the day in small groups undertaking a wide variety of activities including numeracy and literacy tests, plus individual and team tasks. Professional assessors will be looking to identify specific skills in natural ability, communications, decision making, collaborative working, problem solving, co-operation and leadership.
The three successful candidates, ideally one from each Housing Association, will officially begin their carpentry apprenticeship in September. Following close consultation with a selection of further education establishments, the apprentices will attend a college local to them on a day-release basis, as well as work shadowing experienced Haymills trade operatives on Flagship sites throughout the region - learning first hand what life is like as a carpenter.
Trainees will also be provided with a full set of tools to begin their apprenticeship.
